Privacy Policy

It is a requirement for most businesses to state the personal data they collect, process and store about their users, customers and clients and what they do with it. However, statistics show that almost no-one ever actually reads it. In an effort to improve upon this, below is a simplified summary which covers the majority of cases and is designed to be much shorter and more readable. The full and definitive version of the document may be downloaded or requested by email or post.

Applicability

The policy applies to the website, communications and any professional dealings you may have with the business where you give or are requested to provide personal data. Personal data is any information which could be used to identify you. This may include, but is not limited to, your name, contact details, payment details, communication content, health data, website use and other identifying information that may be requested in order for the business to provide its goods or services to you. It does not include anonymised data.

Retention

The business will retain this data only for as long as is either legally required or during and, for health data 7 years after, its relationship with you. It is important that this information is kept up to date and you should advise any changes by email as soon as practicable.

Protection

Security measures are in place to protect your personal data from loss or being used, accessed or altered without appropriate authorisation.

The person who is responsible for the data the business holds (the Data Controller) is:

Name: Laura Harrison

Email: privacy@laurastalkingtherapies.co.uk

Your Rights

You have the right to request a copy of the data which the business holds about you. You may also request transfer, updates, corrections to or removal of your personal data and restrict or withdraw consent for its use. The business may require evidence of identity, to ensure that no data is disclosed to or altered by anyone not entitled to request it.

If you wish to exercise these rights you should make a request by email or post to the Data Controller. You can find out more about your rights to your data from the Office of the Information Commissioner (ICO). You may also complain to the ICO if you believe that there has been a breach of the regulations.

Data Sharing

The business will not disclose, supply or sell your personal data to any third party for the purpose of themselves, their clients or their associates using it as part of their own marketing, sales promotion or similar activities.

If the business needs to share any of your personal information with a third party for the purpose of fulfilling its professional, contractual or other obligations to you, it will not do so without also requiring the third party to observe similar or better protections for your personal data than those which this policy provides. Your permission will be sought before any disclosure is made.

The business will also share specific information where is it legally required to do so, for example with government departments or other official or legal bodies such as the police or courts. It may also do so for safeguarding reasons or where there is considered to be danger to life.

Cancellation

If you are unable or unwilling to provide data that the law or the business requires in order to provide its professional or contracted goods or services to you, then it may be necessary to cancel or terminate the contract. You will be notified if this situation arises.

Some parts of the website may contain links to external third party sites or services. Following those links will result in you leaving the site and their privacy policy will then apply.
